Chapter Six
We got to Sky Land just as the sun started disappearing beyond the clouds, signaling it was done for the day. Sky Land happened to be a very big pack village, with so many units functioning quite well. However, one could easily feel the sadness in the air as we stepped on the grounds. After shifting back to human form, and putting our clothes back on, we headed to Jake's uncle's house.
It turned out Jake's uncle was the Alpha, and his father, a Beta. The house was pretty modest. Not mediocre or anything, but certainly not overly extravagant. It was obvious that it was the biggest around here, and contained the necessities for a comfortable life.
We didn't have to wait long before two men, and their mates joined us in the large living room. It was obvious from their aura that this was the Alpha and his Beta. Even more so, it was obvious that the two men, along with Jake, had the same blood running through their veins.
The resemblance was uncanny. His uncle and father stood even taller than him, their bodies more muscular with years, and their eyes, as blue as Jake's. They all had the same blond hair; the Alpha's was shorter, and Jake's father had let his grow out, which was in a low ponytail, but I had no doubt when he let it out, it fell like a mane around his shoulders.
One thing was obvious, though, good looks ran in the genes for these men, looking even hotter with the years. It was kind of nice to know that in about 15-20 years, Jake would look even better than he did now. He had better be mated by then, because nothing spelled trouble in a pack more than an overly gorgeous unmated Alpha.
I took my time to regard the two women by their side. One of whom was black like me. Interesting. So Sky Land’s Alpha had mated with a black woman? They both looked lovely, and Jake's mother was as equally attractive. Someone was obviously doubly blessed.
At that moment, a third woman stepped in and she immediately arrested my attention. She was beautiful, too, with honed features. Tall, graceful, and lean like a gazelle. Maybe it was the way she walked, stood, tilted her head to one corner, and narrowed her eyes as she regarded us, everything about her carriage screamed soldier.
"Thanks for taking time out to join us, General." I heard the Alpha say, and when the woman nodded in his direction and spoke, it clicked.
"It's no problem, Hank. I was just about done with debriefing the soldiers." That voice, sleek, sultry, there was only one person I knew with that voice and hair that shade of Black... I almost gasped as I looked from the woman to Blake, my mouth hanging open in surprise. Blake's mother was a general? And the bastard kept making jokes about women being weak and all that. He seemed to know what I was thinking as he caught my eye and shrugged, a guilty smile stealing across his face.
